The Grantwriter's Association offers courses. They can be rather costly however they are priceless once you are certified. It is simply a multitude of information that you couldn't have access to otherwise. You have to have been writing grants informally however for a year prior most of the time to be considered. I wrote for them for the high school I worked for.
The thing about grants.gov is that it is designed mostly for larger more reknown non-profits or state organizations. It is difficult to locate actual individual grants or grants for small non-profits unless they fall under specific elgibility requirements.
